MUS social events are organized to promote spirit among BCom students and to give us a chance to have fun outside of the classroom. From Frosh to Carnival to sports intramurals, the management social calendar reflects the community atmosphere at Desautels.
Not to mention, these events attract students from faculties across campus. Just look for the engineers at our weekly 4 à 7s!
Every year, MUS events raise over $45,000 for various charity organizations.
Our three main philanthropic events - CASCO, P[h]assion, and Cancer Auction - attract donors from the Montreal community and participants from across McGill. These events demonstrate the creative adaption of business skills to promote social awareness.
In the past, contributions have been made to such organizations as the Montreal Children's Hospital, the Aids Community Center of Montreal (ACCM) and the Cancer Society of Canada.
The MUS runs three academic events that focus on developing and testing critical thinking and presentation skills outside of the classroom: The Graduating Class Case Competition, the U2 Case Competition and the Desautels Management Leadership Seminar. These events also give BCom students the opportunity to network with representatives from the sponsor companies – an excellent recruitment opportunity!
The MUS also organizes two events that encourage students to socialize with their professors and learn more about the different areas of study in the BCom Program: Meet Your Profs and the Majors and Concentrations Fair.
There are two MUS external events focused on engaging the community outside of Desautels. The Management Achievement Awards honour businesspeople that have made a substantial impact on the business environment of the local Montreal community. The Desautels Business Conference on Sustainability seeks to bring the business and academic communities together to address issues of sustainability in the social, economic and environmental realms.
Every year, the MUS Clubs organize a variety of events, competitions and conferences. Although these activities are not presented on this website, they can be found on the websites of the respective clubs. Also, make sure to visit the MUS website often for club updates, and check out the Clubs blog link under Latest on the bottom right hand corner of the homepage!
